“There are those who are clean in their own eyes but are not washed of their filth.” Proverbs 30:12
When I was younger I saw a movie about adults that went back to their summer camp to remember old times. They had a lot of problems in their lives but made things seem like they were beautiful. One scene in the movie shows a lady looking at her reflection in a mirror. The mirror was covered in dirt. The sign on the mirror said, “this mirror is clean are you?” It made the lady re-evaluate her choices and decisions about her life. She needed to get back to the foundation of who she was and what she wanted to be.
There have been times in my life when I got filthy with all the hectic things around me. I mad bad choices and my decisions were not always thought out the way they should have been. My priorities have gotten thrown all out of whack. God has put a mirror in front of my face, many times before, and said scrub. He had me use hot water, soap with an exfoliant, and gave me instructions to rinse, lather, and repeat.
For someone as dirty as I was, this cleaning frenzy may happen multiple times a day.
I may have not totally learned the lesson of tiptoeing in the mud, as to avoid the dirt, but I did learning to clean up quicker and without a fight. I also learned if I prepare myself, by putting on the full armor of God, I can walk straight through the mud and make it out on the other side completely clean.
So do you need a Dove bar or Ivory bodywash?
