“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
I have heard many different opinions about what is currently going on around the world. We are dealing with the COVID-19 virus. This flu-like illness has spread around the world, rapidly, and those with autoimmune deficiency or a weak immune system have a higher risk of dying or becoming gravely ill. You may not actually be one of those people but you could carry the germ onto someone who does in fact come in contact with one of those people.
The government has placed most of our country on a stay-at-home restriction, requesting that no one leaves their home unless it is necessary. Many people have violated that, as they believe what they are doing is necessary, and unfortunately it has caused panic, lack of supplies, and those who actually are essential workers are becoming ill due to the violation.
The Word of God says to follow the authority placed in front of us, unless it violates the Word of God. Life can still go on, just be more creative. You want to be outside in the sunshine, then go in your backyard and play relay races with your kids. You want to go grocery shopping, then order online to pick up or go at a non-busy time of day. You want to have church, watch a pastor who is conducting services from his home office or watch previously recorded sessions other churches have posted on YouTube. You want to worship, do the same as previously stated for church time. Are you missing face-to-face contact, do a video chat through Zoom, FaceTime, Facebook messenger, Skype.
This virus was not God’s doing because the Word of God says that Satan came to “kill, steal, and destroy” and God came to give life abundantly. So, Satan was sneaky and got away with causing this havoc on our lives but God’s ways are abundance so fear not because He has “overcome the world.” This will not continue and in the meantime spend some time changing habits that have gotten lax to where you know God would like them to be.
Personally, I am grateful for this situation because it has enabled me to work from home, my kids to be doing home schooling so I can make sure they are truly understanding what is being taught to them, we have had several fire pit nights, had game nights, I have decreased my TV time to increase my book reading time, I have been able to have deeper thoughts about ministry, learned to connected with ministry friends through Zoom and other apps, our house is staying pretty clean, we have gotten back to each kid doing daily devotionals, scheduled routines for the day, and it has caused my kids to learn to work as a team more as they are not able to play with their friends or rely on outside fellowship.
Remember, God can use anything and everything, event things Satan tries to conjure up, to glorify Him.
