“The hearing ear and the seeing eye, the Lord has made them both.” Proverbs 20:12
God created us in His image. He created our perfect ears and our perfect eyes, to listen and to see. What are we filling His creation with, I think is what He is asking.
Years ago I got a movie from Netflix, in the mail. Now the actress in it is one of my husband’s and my favorite females. She is pretty, does sweet roles and seems to be a good girl in her movies. My husband was gone on a trip so I watched it with a friend of mine. Now, I knew that it was a rated “R” movie but knowing her I did not think it would be what it turned out to be. I was totally astonished and beside myself at what I witnessed.
The movie was basically porn with a storyline.
There was a lot of nudity on her part, displays of rough sex and the big “F” word poured out of her mouth more than that of a sailor. I was physically ill after seeing it. Blown away by what she was willing to do and totally enlightened by what was being filmed. It blew me away. What kind of person would display themselves on-screen in that manner for us all to see as well as the 100+ people filming the scene.
The experience made me take a step back and look at the situation from His point of view.
I was filling my perfect eyes with lustful images and filling my ears with hateful words. My thoughts on the subject are, just because a person is old enough to see or hear things does not mean they should. We are not only to shelter our children from that kind of filth but shelter ourselves as well.
“Be careful little eyes what you see, oh be careful little ears what you hear, for the Father up above is looking down in love so be careful…”
