“The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him.” Nahum 1:7
There is a song by Casting Crown called “Praise You in this Storm,” that talks about how we are suppose to praise the Lord at all times, in times of joy, sorrow and tribulations; all times. How many times do you run under a shelter during a rain storm or seek shade in the heat of the day? God is our shelter and shade, He is our refuge in troubled times. He wants us to seek Him out, He wants to care for us.
I hear prayer requests all the time from family, friends, youth and even strangers. They come in all shapes and sizes: my daughter is upset, my mother is ill, I lost my kitty, I need to get the teacher I want for AP English, my spouse is cheating on me, I have Cancer, I don’t know how to serve and my kids are testing my patience. All of these prayers are equally as important to God as the other. I pray with them, for them and even lay hands on them to pray over them. However, typically the first question I ask is something to the nature of, “is God your refuge?” In other words, do you seek His face, read His Word and ask for His guidance?
Make God your refuge, trust Him because He will care for you!
