Beliefs
1. God
I believe that God is the Creator of all things. There are no other gods but Him, made up of three persons called the Triune; God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit. He sent His Son to the world to save sinners because of His love for mankind.
(Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 4:24, 5:26, 10:30; I Corinthians 8:4; Ephesians 4:4-6; Colossians 1:16-17)
2. The Bible
I believe the Bible is the flawless and authoritative, supernaturally inspired, Word of God; which is to be used as a person’s instructions for life.
Deuteronomy 29:29; John 10:35; I Corinthians 2:13; I Thessalonians 2:13; II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter 1:21)
3. Jesus Christ
I believe in Jesus Christ who preexisted, is the Son of God and was placed in the virgin Mary’s womb by the Holy Spirit. He was born into meager surroundings. He performed miracles and was tempted by Satan but lived a perfect life as both fully God and fully man. He willingly took the worst punishment for all of man’s sins, which included crucifixion on the cross, for the salvation of those who believe in Him. He was buried and rose bodily three days later, ascended into Heaven and is seated at the right hand of God. He will return to Earth again in power and glory. “Every knee will bow and tongue confess that He is LORD.”
(Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Mark 16:19; Luke 1:34-35; John 2:9, 10:33, 11:25; Acts 1:11, 4:12; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9, 4:15, 7:26; Revelation 19:11-16)
4. The Holy Spirit
I believe in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling in each Christian, providing them a way to live a godly life. He speaks to Christ on our behalf when we are unsure of what to say and gifts each believer in Christ with the spiritual gifts needed to do their part of the body of Christ.
(John 3:5-8, 16-19, 5:24, 16:7-14; Acts 1:8, 4:31, 5:3-4; Romans 8:9, 13-14; I Corinthians 2:9-12, 14, 3:16, 6:19-20, 12:3-13, 28-31; Galatians 5:16-18; Ephesians 1:13-14, 4:30, 5:18; Colossians 2:6-10; Titus 3:5)
5. Man
I believe people were created in the image of God, accountable to Him. After Adam’s sin, the first man, the penalty of spiritual and physical death came to man. Each person is born with an inherently sinful nature and is a sinner in thought, word and deed. Every person stands under God’s just judgment and cannot save themselves through good deeds. Mankind is lost and will face God’s judgment, the only way to Salvation is through Jesus Christ.
(Genesis 1:26-27, 2:7; Matthew 5:20-48; Luke 24:46-47; John 3:36, 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 2:6-16, 3:23, 5:8-9, 12-21, 6:23; II Corinthians 5:10-11; Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10; Titus 3:4-7)
6. Church (body)
I believe the Church is the body of Christ with Him as the headship. The body is to glorify God through worship, fellowship and learning from His word, in order to become disciples of Christ so that they may speak and show His love by going into the world to share the Gospel of Christ.
(Matthew 9:35-38, 22:37-39, 26:26-29, 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8, 2:42; Romans 10:9-15, 12:20-21; I Corinthians 12:12, 27; Galatians 6:10; Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 3:6-10, 4:11-13, 5:25-27; Colossians 2:6-10; I Thessalonians 2:14; Hebrews 10:25; I Peter 2:9-10, 3:15; I John 4:16-17)
7. Resurrection
I believe there really is a Heaven where all the saved will go for eternity and a Hell where all the lost will end up. A true believer cannot lose their salvation but their continued sin will bring about God’s loving discipline. I believe in Christ’s Second Coming when He will return to Earth in body to take His believers to be with Him and when He will judge and rule the Earth in righteousness.
(John 5:28-29, 14:3; Romans 2:11, 8:1; I Corinthians 15:20-23, 51-57; II Corinthians 5:10; Philippians 1:23; I Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 11:15, 20:11-21:5)
8. Marriage
I believe God created marriage to be a unity between one man and one woman. I believe that human sexuality should only be expressed within the context of that unity.
(Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5-6; Mark 10:6-9; Romans 1:26-27; I Corinthians 6:9)
9. Life
I believe life begins at conception, is sacred and should be cherished until its natural end.
(Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10)
10. Satan
I believe Satan is the enemy of God and man. He was judged by Christ on the Cross and will be defeated in the lake of fire for eternity.
(Genesis 3:11; Job 1:6-12; Matthew 4:3-11; John 8:44; II Corinthians 4:4; I John 3:8, 5:19; Revelation 12:9-10, 20:10)
